Suzi Gerstenhaber Houston, Texas
I was born on October 17, 1950, and grew up in Beaumont, Texas. I always wanted to be an attorney primarily because of my dad, Carl Waldman. His love of the law, his passion for the practice of law, and his desire to help people inspired me. I attended public school in Beaumont, and graduated from Forest Park High School in 1968. I attended the University of Texas, Georgia State University and University of Maryland. In 1971, I met Elliot Gerstenhaber, and instead of graduating at that time, I elected to come back to Texas and get married in 1972. I graduated from the University of Houston in 1974. In the early 70's, I invented a device to help disabled people and was awarded a patent in 1975. I also taught school for two years, and then stayed at home after my children, Alix, Brooke and Andy were born. During that time, I volunteered for many organizations, and founded "Bucks for Belts", an organization promoting seat belts on school buses. When my son, Andy, enrolled in kindergarten, I enrolled in South Texas College of Law in 1990. Despite the 13 carpools, I finished law school in 1993, and was licensed in May of 1994. My trial work has been in the areas of auto collisions and premises liability. I am a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Houston Trial Lawyers Association, and the Houston Bar Association. I am on the board of the Anti-Defamation League. I feel very fortunate to be able to practice law with my dad. It has been a wonderful experience both professionally and personally. I respect Travis, Trent, Tom, Jim and Josh and I believe that we are all dedicated to helping injured people.
